Our Color Run and Family Fun Day will be raising much needed funds that will directly fund a research project being done at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The goal of this project is to find and repurpose an already existing drug to use as a treatment for Hao-Fountain Syndrome while we wait for a cure to be found. The remaining cost of the project is $100,000 and we hope to raise that total amount through this event.
Currently, there are only 300 people globally who are diagnosed with Hao-Fountain Syndrome (formerly called USP7).
Our son, Jake, was the 47th person to be diagnosed in 2019. Hao-Fountain Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder that causes seizures, severe language delays, intellectual disabilities, low muscle tone, feeding problems, sleep disorders, and many more.
Jake is now 8 years old and suffers from seizures, low muscle tone, severe dyslexia and apraxia of speech, heart problems, sleep problems and more. Every aspect of his life and every part of his body are affected by this disorder. He attends a special dyslexia program instead of traditional schooling and requires hours of therapies weekly just to keep up with his peers. He has endless doctors appointments and procedures. The extent to which this has affected his quality of life is profound and the financial toll that is has taken on our lives is profound as well.
By attending our event and purchasing raffle tickets, you are giving Jake and all the children with Hao-Fountain Syndrome the hope to one day be living normal, healthy lives.
The Foundation for USP7 Related Diseases is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
